This region has prospered as a production center for Japanese swords for over 800 years, due to the availability of clean water, pine charcoal that produces high heat, and high-quality clay for forging. Many craftsmen have gathered here.

MinoWashiJapanese Paper

This region has prospered as a production center for Japanese paper (washi) for over 1300 years due to the cold winters, clean water, and high-quality kozo (raw material). The Shosoin repository houses the oldest surviving Japanese paper, a Mino washi used for family registers, dating back to 702 AD.

MinoyakiJapanese Pottery

This region has a history of being a lake 5 million years ago, which is why high-quality soil could be obtained. As a result, it has flourished as a pottery-producing region for a long time.
